Trump went too far in calling for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S. But it's a no brainer that we should halt immigration of people from countries with active terrorist cells, people who cannot be properly vetted.
In addition, immigration that becomes a liability for our nation needs to also be halted. At 20 TRILLION dollars of debt, a homeless problem, a bankrupt Social Security and failing infrastructure, we cannot afford any more immigrants in our nation until we clean up our own backyard. We cannot afford to be the world's sugar daddy any more!
If there are truly bleeding hearts for refugees (not from countries with terrorist cells) let private people like Mark Zukerberg and George Soros or anyone else with an itch to open our borders pick up the tab (Private Funded Immigration). Let them put their money where their mouth is.
